CTUWS January 17, 2015, Amid a series of abuse of leading workers and independent trade unions, the administration of Lenin Group for Upholstery has without warning suspended the leading laborer Mohammad Hassan Abu al-Yazid on the pretext that he gathered workers of the company to attend a workshop on the rights of workers organized by the International Labor Organization for trade union workers in Alexandria Governorate.

As a serious consequence for attending ILO workshop, Mohamed Abu al- Yazid and four of his colleagues were suspended from work. The decision issued on November 29.2014 stated that “ It was stipulated that you are suspended from work until the finalization of the investigations in which you are charged by inciting and assembling workers to attend a workshop that would facilitate prospective strikes.”

Abu al – Yazid asserted that this decision was based upon article number 110 in the Egyptian Work Law number 12 for the year 2003. The administration claims that he has been warned twice whereas he denies this claim. Not only that but he also confirms that work efficiency reports are all in his favor.

CTUWS announces its solidarity with Abu al- Yazid and asserts that this suspension is a violation of the law and that this suspension is a punishment for Abu al- yazid since he has defended the rights of his friends at work.  This is only one episode of many that are meant to filtrate workers i(n the independent trade union movement ) who defend workers rights.
