A force from the investigative police of Kafr Shokr station arrested Tarek Mostafa Koaib on the evening of 18/9/2017. Koaib is the head of the Independent Real Estate Workers Syndicate and was arrested in front of Kafr Shokr Hospital where he had been referred for intensive care admission by his physician due to his critical health situation.

Despite his critical condition, the force that arrested Koaib refused to take his medication with him when his brother Ibrahim rushed them to Kafr Shokr police station fearing for his life. The reason given was that he is not in the police station and they alleged that they do not know where he is held.

The Center for Trade Union and Worker Services expresses its utmost concern for Koaib’s health and life. He was supposed to be admitted to intensive care at a hospital and not locked up in an unknown location where it is not possible for him to receive the medication his critical condition requires. It is worth mentioning that Koaib had undergone an operation to insert stents in his heart vessels and his medical condition is still unstable.

CTUWS is pleading with you to express solidarity with TarekKoaib and demands his immediate release so that he is able to receive treatment and medical attention, especially that there is no legal grounds for his arrest.
